The Customer

The multi-award-winning Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre is one of the largest theatres in London (1,240 seats) and situated in the beautiful surroundings of a Royal Park. Named London Theatre of the Year in 2017, they are passionate about producing  first-class theatre for and in their unique setting which inspires challenges and entertainment

The Challenge

Regents Park Open Theatre was in the process of refurbishing the outdoor theatre and looking in ways on how to improve the safety for the theatregoers. One way of doing this was to evaluate the health and safety precautions, then reviewing what needs to be improved. With England being known for its wet weather, it became aware that the steps were indeed an accident waiting to happen. Regents Park Open Theatre approached Chequer Plate for a solution.

The Solution

Chequer Plate Direct, a leading UK producer of aluminium bespoke products.

Produced high quality and durable corner guards manufactured from aluminium 5 bar chequer plate. The corner guards were powder coated to provide more weather resistant against England’s notorious wet weather. Furthermore, as part of this bespoke order, they also produced several signs to be placed on the steps to direct the theatre goers to their seats. These signs were also manufactured from 5 bar chequer plate, the benefit of using this material in this situation provides a more stable surface to walk on.

The Outcome

The 5 bar aluminium chequer plate corner guards offer theatregoers a more stable surface to walk on and reduce the chances of any hazardous accidents. The powder coating provides a weather resistance coat and reduces the chance of rust.
